Understand Your Goals On Social Media
I encourage all Travel Professionals to start the thought process of considering why social media is important for our travel business by focusing outwards. We need to consider what our ideal client wants. That is very important, and should not be overlooked.
But I'd also like to offer another perspective, and will also help you keep your momentum going. It's important to look inwards to what you want. Why are you spending time, money, and resources on social media? What do you hope to get out of this process?
Here's a list of all the ways social media can benefit our businesses:
Increases awareness of our brand
Gives our business "personality"
Allow us share helpful information with prospective clients
Know our customers on a deeper level
Gain access to business owners/JV opportunities
Position ourselves as a leader in our niche
Increases our search-ability in search engines
Improve our online reputation
Build a network of people interested in our business
Find new clients
Help grow our email list
All of these are great goals to consider but we don't need to chase all of them. Begin to think about the one or two ways that social media can help your business and focus exclusively on those.
Which social media channel you end up picking will largely depend on what you hope to achieve.
